My brother Lennie (RIP), me, George Deck(RIP) and Gary Deck, Joe Ball, Horace Cadle, Gil Perchowitz, Billy Ridgeway, Tony Clements, Ray Clements, Neal Virts, Buddy Rickets, Larry Mills, Melvin Mason and many more I can't remember at this time all of those that were there in the beginning years of RVFD. I remember going down there every weekend to help mix mortar, carry bricks and blocks, shoveling and going down to Nick's Store to get stuff for everyone to have lunch. We all did whatever we could do to help get the building out of the ground and under roof. There's probably hundreds, if not thousands, of beer cans in the cinder block cells of the original part of the building. I remember working bingos and sleeping in folding cots in the same room we held the bingo in and an occasional initiation. We were young, we were dedicated, we cared about the community and were very proud of our the little firehouse we built. I miss my brother Lennie so much and all my firemen brothers and the great times we had growing up in Ritchie and being part of the Ritchie VFD. We need to have a reunion.
