TRUCK RUNS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FIRE

Thursday, January 19, 2012  At 0956 Hours, the box assignment was sounded for a reported fire in the Doswell E. Brooks Elementary school alerting Truck 37 as the 2nd due truck. Upon arrive of the initial units and truck 37 who arrived as the 1st due special, members found a fire in the HVAC systems ventilation system. Truck 37 opened up the duct work for 26's engine crew and the fire was quickly extinguished. Units operated for about 1 hour before returning to service.

Monday, January 16, 2012  From Sunday 1/8/12 to Saturday 1/14/12 The Ritchie volunteers responded to 59 calls, consisting of (2) Working fires, (23) Medical locals, (13) Box/Street alarms, (8) MVA's, (4) Gas/CO alarms (3) AFA,(3) Outside Fires, (2) Service calls, and (1) Auto Fire.

TRUCK FIRST DUE ON 23 HOUSE

Wednesday, January 11, 2012   Around 2200 hrs Truck 37 was alerted to the 8200 block of Fernham Ln. Engine 23 went onscene with smoke showing. Upon arrival Truck 37 found a portion of vinyl siding and storage bins on fire that extended into the roof. Truck 37 laddered all sides of the structure. The primary was determined to be negative while also finding slight extension into the house. A small portion of the roof was cut to extinguish any visible fire and to check for extension. Truck 37 also covered the roof with plastic to prevent any further damage. Truck 37 was onscene a little over an 1 1/2 hrs  before returning to quarters.

     



 

TRUCK COMPANY RUNS SMALL FIRE IN BEDROOM

Monday, January 9, 2012   Around 2000 hrs Truck 37 responded to the 1600 block of Addison Rd for the house fire. Truck 37 arrived as the first due special service as Engine 26 was laying out. Engine 26 reported a light haze in the upstair bedroom area. Engine 26 and Truck 37 sprung into action searching for the source. Truck 37 placed several ground ladders to the structure and its exposures. Engine 26 found a mattress on fire in a back bedroom and the fire was extinguished with a water can off of truck 37. Truck 37 helped check for extension and cleared shorty thereafter.

ENGINE COMPANY RESPONDS TO A STREAK OF AUTO FIRES

Sunday, January 8, 2012   At 1932 hrs Engine 371 responded to the 1000 block of Hampton Park blvd for the auto fire beside a store front. Upon arrival they found a well involved full size suv. The engine company stretched the front bumper line making quick work of the auto. 

     



 

ENGINE 371 RUNS AUTO WELL OFF

Saturday, January 7, 2012   At 1813 hrs Eng 371 was alerted to the intersection of Ritchie Marlboro Rd and Sansbury rd for the Auto fire. Upon arrival they found a midsize sedan well off. They pulled the front bumper line and quickly extinguished the fire. Engine 371 racked up and cleared the scene in less than 30 minutes.

     



 

WEEKLY UPDATE 12/26/2011 - 12/31/2011

Monday, January 2, 2012  From Monday 12/26– Saturday 12/31, The Ritchie Volunteers responded to a total of 48 calls, consisting of  (1) Working fire,(21) EMS Calls,(7) Motor Vehicle Collisions, (6) Box/ Street Alarms (potential fires), (1) Auto Fire, (1) Gas/CO Calls, (3) Service Calls, (1) Wires, and (7) Fire Alarms.
 

For 2011 - Company 37 responded to a Total of 3,111 calls, consisting of 2,313 Engine runs and 798 Truck runs. Ritchie also appeared on 78 working fires for the year 2011.

ENGINE COMPANY FIRST ON SCENE OF BASEMENT FIRE

Friday, December 30, 2011  At 1543 hours Engine 371 was alerted to Pine Grove road for the fire in the basement. Upon arrival the home occupant advised that the fire was in a back bedroom. The engine company quickly masked up and went to work finding a bed with other furnishings on fire. After a quick knock on the fire the engine company racked up and was back inservice in less than a hour.

   


 

ENGINE COMPANY RUNS CRASH

Friday, December 30, 2011   Just after 1300 hrs Engine 371 was alerted to the 2700 block of Ritchie rd for the personal injury accident. The engine company arrived to find a car into a pole and one patient with moderate injuries. The engine company was on scene just under 30 minutes.
